I am a full time willow weaver and make different types of baskets, sculptures, fencing, functional & miscellaneous items as requested.

My workshop is near Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, I work internationally making large sculpture trails for parks and gardens. I am was awarded a QEST Scholarship in 2020 and have studied with two of the best basket makers in the uk today. I grow much of my own willow and purchase the rest from Somerset, I love working with willow as a medium because I get to create something people can enjoy from a bundle of sticks. I also make my own metal frames to help support some of my larger structures.

I run workshops at different venues around Yorkshire and from my own workshop where people can make small willow sculptures in a day; I have many animals and baskets in my repertoire

I started willow weaving as a hobby through Medieval Re-enactment around 2000, the first items I made were life sized willow bee skeps, eel traps, quivers, chicken cages and many other medieval items. 

As time moved on, I moved away from the medieval scene and started to make more everyday products including baskets and decorations. Due to the amount of people who asked me, I then started to run workshops in basketry and garden items. I also started to learn how to make greenwood spoons and bowls using traditional hand tools. It was a hobby that that I enjoyed so much I went full time in 2012.

Initially and for many years I learnt to weave from books, my husband bought me a book called Willow Work written by a lovely lady called Mary Butcher who I met many years later. I started sculpting when someone I knew asked me if I could make a deer and was hooked from there on in.

Today you will find me merrily weaving in my workshop and enjoying the opportunity to run my own willow weaving business. My workshop is in a beautiful place, Kirby Wharfe near Tadcaster in North Yorkshire. I work to commission as well as selling stock on my website and also hire sculptures to the public. I love my chosen profession and enjoy the new challenges I get from creating new and diverse sculptures.
