I am a sculptor and environmental artist, working mostly with stainless steel, coloured stainless steel, aluminium, and mixed media including light and sound, and photographic images, often on a large scale appropriate for landscape and city environments.  

Capturing the ephemeral in substantial form is an ongoing challenge.  Wind, water and light have long been my inspiration. The weather, the effects of it, the mineral content of our planet, have all been subjects of my work. I see the materials themselves as an important element in the work.  I try to bring their best qualities into view, in sculptures and installations that reflect light, are suspended, have moving parts, sound and colour, and are therefore not static and unchanging.  

I have won many public art commissions in Scotland, in the rest of the UK and abroad. I have exhibited my work in countries as far afield as China, Japan and Canada as well as in many European countries.   I work with engineers in fabricating and installing my sculpture, which ensures durability and health and safety in the public realm. 

Forthcoming solo exhibitions:  SOC Aberlady 2022;  Burghley House, Lincolnshire 2022.   A public art commission in Dundee is in progress to be completed in 2022.  New commission for Peace Garden, Hitchin, Herts 2022.
